Gizmos & Gadgets Club

Gizmo & Gadgets Club is a program for the elementary students offered by Edgerton Explorit Center staff and volunteers. The program replaces the former Wacky Wednesday/Milk Drop Club and will be offered on Wednesday afternoons during the school year to coincide with Aurora Public School’s early out. Edgerton Explorit Center will offer this program as a way to live out the Center’s mission statement with local students. The program will promote scientific discovery and exploration as well as provide a safe, intellectually stimulating environment for students who might not otherwise have adequate childcare available to them after early out.

G&G Program Participation Parameters:

The program will be limited to the first 30 students who register. Registration will close on September 1st or when the program is full, whichever comes first.

Students will be bussed from school to Explorit Center and must be picked up no later than 5:30PM

Seriously Science Club for 2nd – 5th Graders

For those students who can sit, focus, follow instructions, and really engage in science experiments, there is a possibility of the Seriously Science clubs.  These groups are up to 15 students, and will focus on a science activity each week, with a snack, and some time for homework and will also go on the after-school club field trips.  Students for these must be okayed by our educators to join this club.  If students are unable to focus on the activities, or be their best selves they have the option to return to Gizmos & Gadgets Club.

Middle Schoolers

The First Lego League Robotics club will be a competitive First Lego League robotics team.  Throughout the year the students will design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field at the state competition. This all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. These students are included in our field trip experiences as well.

Middle Schoolers Helpers

For our middle school students who are interested in volunteering and helping.  We love working with these students as they grow into great leaders.  Students will be assigned to one of the above specific groups and are expected to listen to those staff older than them and help with their group of kids.    All volunteers and staff are expected to act in an appropriate and leading manner.  Middle school helpers must be able to attend a majority of the days, not just the fun field trips.
