Volunteers are needed and utilized in many areas of the Edgerton Explorit Center. After submitting an application, all prospective volunteers must attend an orientation, where they will learn about the Edgerton Explorit Center, the various positions available, and training sessions. Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities.
Positions Available
Science Lab Volunteer
Help staff with interactive lab classes in a variety of science subjects including help with set-up, presentation and clean-up
Special Project Volunteer
Engage visitors in science topics for our special programming. Help develop traveling or Explorit Zone exhibits.
Outreach Coordinator
Assist staff in activities off-site with our Edgerton on the Move Program or other special events. Help with set-up, presentations, and clean-up.
Special Events Volunteer
Work onsite with special events to include helping plan, promote and assist with events.
Center Volunteer
Help Edgerton Explorit Center staff members with admissions, gift shop, clerical work such as preparing mailings, materials, and dispensing information to visitors
Explorit Zone Volunteer
Help maintain and prepare Explorit Zone exhibits. Interpret exhibits, share information, answer questions, and help with guest participation in the Explorit Zone and Strobe Alley.
Landscaping Volunteer
Help maintain grounds at the Edgerton Explorit Center. Including planting and maintaining the grounds and gardens.
Maintenance Volunteer
Help with overall general maintenance of the Edgerton Explorit Center. To include janitorial work as well as painting, construction and maintenance of exhibits, and help with overall upkeep of the center.
